A Song of Fortune

A Song of Fortune

Did you not hear the river sigh—
A hush of longing in its flow?
Did you not see the morning mist
Kiss the earth in silent woe?

O life, in dreams you touched my hand,
A fleeting spark, a silver ray—
Yet vanished with the dawn’s embrace,
Leaving echoes lost in day.

The night still hums your tender song,
The wind still weaves your whispered tune,
Yet fortune walks a distant shore,
And fate’s soft lantern wanes too soon.

Come back, O light of yesteryears,
Let petals bloom where shadows lay—
Let dreams rise like the golden sun,
And fortune smile upon my way.
