Too Late for Regrets

In the realm of shadows, I do reside,

In hushed oblivion, where sorrows abide,

Many tender words remain unsaid,

A symphony of silence, in my resting bed.

Beneath the shroud of life’s ceaseless race,

In fleeting moments, grace did we erase,

The Ramones’ melodies, a distant hum,

Prophets’ wisdom overlooked, and feelings numb.

And now, my dear, you seek to stake a claim,

A heart extinguished, a flicker’s waning flame,

Yet tardy for well-intentioned desires,

Too late for change, destiny transpires.

Could you perceive the tears I shed,

From realms beyond, where spirits are led,

A woman’s soul, akin to a river’s flow,

In pain and longing, does evergrow.

A poet’s heart, now rendered stone,

In cryptic verses, love’s essence unknown,

Yet in this realm, I yearned for naught,

But to be cherished and truly sought.

In the passage of time, our courses did part,

I wandered, solitary, with aching heart,

In this ethereal ballet, our steps did not align,

A love untasted, regret bitter like brine.

Oh, for one chance, I fervently pine,

To sway with you in life’s grand design,

To breathe the air that you inhale,

And share secrets 'neath the moonlit trail.

But the hourglass depleted, and time did race,

In death’s chill embrace, I found my place,

Now you speak of love, an empty vow,

An echoing specter in the present’s glow.

If only life’s rhythm had slowed its beat,

Perhaps our souls would find their seat,

Yet, dearest, I now exist as a memory,

Within this poetic tapestry, a fragile reverie.

So let tears cascade, let rivers flow,

For love untold and dreams we let go,

May my passing serve as a solemn plea,

Seize the moment, for all eternity.

As you gaze upon the stars above,

Recall, life’s brevity is love’s sweetest bluff,

To squander not the chances fate bestows,

Embrace them now, ere life’s final close.
