Our two choices are
The fear of God
Or the fear of death
And since we gain wisdom through the fear of God
Then we must have the faith not to fear anything else
Up to and including death
Fearing only the loss of our connection to God
Making every trial and temptation in this world
A test of faith
It stands to reason, then
That the root of all folly is the fear of death
Understood as the loss of faith
Manifested as faith in reason
Which does a disservice to reason
Whose job is to deliver us to the precipice of faith
Leaving it up to us to make the leap:
If the only reason not to believe is the fear of death
Then I’m afraid I believe
But there’s only one way to be sure
Here goes nothing...
