Ruwantissa Abeyratne

FROZEN TEARS

A world unseen, a quiet place,
Where moments pass without a trace.
A distant look, a silent stare,
I reach for you, you’re hardly there.

But in your eyes, a world resides,
Where thoughts and feelings twist and hide.
I long to hold what you can’t say,
To guide you when you drift away.

Your laughter comes like rays of sun,
A gift so rare, yet brightly spun.
And in those moments, pure and bright,
I see your soul, a spark of light.

You play a song I’ve never heard,
A melody without a word.
Your fingers dance, a gentle grace,
A quiet smile upon your face.

In water’s arms, you glide so free,
A swimmer lost in reverie.
Each stroke a triumph, pure and wide,
I watch with swelling, quiet pride.

No need for words; you speak in sound,
In splashes, rhythms all around.
Your music hums, your spirit sings,
In every note, in every spring.

I grieve for words you’ll never speak,
For bridges built we’ll never seek.
But still, in every glance you give,
I find new ways to love, to live.

The quietness, the distant skies,
Teach me to cherish whispered sighs.
For in the spaces where you roam,
I’ve found a different kind of home.

Though sadness lingers, soft and true,
There’s endless gratitude for you.
In every touch, in every way,
You teach me more than words could say
