Talking Back Silently
Mockery danced off his lips like his native tongue
Never thinking twice about the monster he sent after his child
Tears licked her swollen solemn face
As she cradled her broken body
Fearful it might finally seize her
But every night
She tiptoed her way to his room and fought back
Silently repeating every word.
