The Verse

Everything is Broken

Modern day ennui,
for the daily malady.
My true self is hidden, see?
Masked ego, set me free?

I am guilt-ridden,
sheep-like and debt-ridden,
yet time is right, light yoke.
No more regrets that I didn’t.
...
Like the dam, broken–
letting the river banks flood.
They flood my life,
wanting to fight.

I am so tired
then revived again,
tired again,
revived and tired and revived
and tired again.

Sick of it so.
The ancient Israelites
followed the Gezer calendar
every day and night.

The crops grow
(sometimes they don’t)
if the rains flow,
(sometimes they won’t)...

Sick of it so.
Traditions be damned,
I need rain on my flower parade,
to be free from barrenness again.

Let my people go,
To be free to sow.
Let the winds blow,
and leap forward the meadow...

I wrote a poem called Leap Forward the Meadow on the day that I left the church that I served and taught at, in 2014. I never went back, and after five years of living for my own desires, I found God again. Though our fight with God may last a lifetime, He is always faithful enough to forgive us and reconcile, because He is merciful and just. Even though we may be wayword, or angry or sad or destroyed and disabled, God will always love you and forgive you, because He is alive and wants to reconcile forever
