Jill May

Anxiety

Grey sky is falling on me, suffocating
Hiding me from the rest of the world.
Loneliness eloped with me
Promising to never betray
Never to leave...
I look into its black holes for the eyes
And feel dizzy, drawn strangely
To the oblivion, emptiness.
No! I shake my head and close my eyes
I try to look the other way
Though holding my friend’s hand
Tightly.
I wonder off from the light
I wonder off from the certainty
Still unsure in my maturity.
I trace my silhouette with a finger
And avert my eyes from the mirror
Afraid
Fearful
Of what’s inside —
The mass, the suffocating mass
of the  endless grey sky
