In time’s expanse, I’ve come to see
That what I gave was not so small
But lost to one who wronged me.
Through labor, I’d accrued this fee:
A treasure cast into the fall—
In time’s expanse, I’ve come to see
My heart’s outpouring, once so free,
Became a burden I did call,
But lost to one who wronged me.
With open arms, I thought to agree
To share my wealth, both great and small—
In time’s expanse, I’ve come to see
But fate had other plans for me,
And my gifts turned sour and ill,

My dreams, like petals, fluttered free,
Only to wither in the fall—
