Autumns Bristlecone Pine

These Bristlecone Pine trees look ever so wicked, as they twist and turn to the things of nature and they adapt to the new realities of life. But little is known that they are the oldest tree known to man. They have heard the secrets of the centuries and remain silent as to not spread a plague of verbal insanity to this world. But we let ourselves have this black tongue and wide ears, because we are open to the idea of hatred. We have accepted hatred to much that we now hate life and all it’s being in our lowest of moments and darkest of days. With all that we as a whole have been through we still stand parted from each other and without that togetherness we fall fast. But that Bristlecone Pine stands, and it watches us as we birth and it watches us as we die. Unspoken, silent, observant, precise, non-judgmental, and worried. Worried that we will fall so deep into the abyss of life that we will soon believe in depth over distance. These trees were not man made and therefore are flawless even if they don’t appear to be. These trees of ours may grow tall in the woods but they resemble us as a whole....tall, strong, and stable; until, crack... we break and fall. In this life we will find shelter as we grow old and move on but nothing is more comforting than knowing that all along someone has cared. The leaves waited ever so patiently along the brimmed branches and as each Autumn came around, each leaf cried as they have fallen from their true home; the Bristlecone Pine. But if the God given power was in my hands I would cut down that pine tree and make wood, I would share that wood with the world and those who burn it to ashes shall know loneliness and hatred as best friends and those who appreciate it’s meaning and it’s gift shall live with joyous thoughts and rich love. And one day we will enable ourselves to be the life and light of nature, for ever since the day we birthed we were strong and willing to take on the world. We will be pieces of wood divided amongst the world for it is the roots and the vines that bind us to the very ground we stand on and search for another on. We shall connect to one another, for Autumns Bristlecone Pine has yet to fallen, for the spirit of humanity has yet to fall....

(2014)

For those who just need to believe in humanity again...or maybe just believe in life.
