Mr. Lighter and Lady Candle
Something we do is doing us
Burning the void,
Lady Candle approaches Mr. Lighter as usual.
Slowly, she cuddles him,
looks up, and says:
‘Will you, dear dragon, kiss me one more time?’
He despondently looks at her and says:
‘I’m afraid I won’t this time.
For the more I kiss you,
the smaller you get,
and it’s always me you blame
for your feelings of inadequacy.
You say you’ve lost so much
since we first met,
and everyone seems to notice
your inevitable disappearance.
For the sake of my reputation,
tonight, you shall remain unlit.
