Rolling painted deserts of the west. Shrub bushes dot sloping hillsides. Relentless sun heats up
As I age this last quarter of my life, I am fading into the background. As I let go of roles,
My spirit communes with the four directions: To the north are in-laws, our aging mother, her last
The birds flock to the bird feeder, some with black, capped heads and others with
White heron skidding the blue, grey water, of the bay. How free and easy you make it look,
Some days you’re in bliss, Some days you’re in pain. Some days you’re up in the clouds, Some days you’re down in the flame… Some days you get what you want
The buck in the garden Chewing up hard earned Labor, His antlers raise, His ears perk up, as
I heard past generations In my son’s voice, I saw his life fly Into another dimension, A place, I can only imagine.
In the still night In the silence, My soul begs, My mind to rest. It’s story told
What inspires me... Hummingbirds buzzing as they land, on nearby flowers. Their amazing wings
Summertime gives A chance to grow Under the sun, Travel, to new places And have some fun.
