Playing Cards
We sat at the table
with cards in our hands
smirked at each other
hand in hand.
The others laughing
telling us we won’t win
but I knew if we did the together
we would stay undefeated.
That’s what we did
for the longest time
passing and switching our cards each time.
We won every game
for a while that is
I gave you my heart
and you gave me yours.
But suddenly your hand left go of mine
you took back your heart
but never gave me mine.
You put your cards down
you won the game
you left me deserted
with no cards to spare.
