Drought Quenchers

Ooh again the aroma of the
sweet, sweet petrichor,
the saccharine waters from the lower heavens
that form from the assemblage of the clouds
from the frantic air currents that run amuck
and break the rules of tranquil conduct; they
come to release the restless rain that has been
pent up inside for too many days into weeks.

Ooh how I love thy
soothing feel against my face,
the invigorating coolness that I
sincerely missed,
that drowned out the hopelessness
that came over me in the drought,
a feeling that the fire
would never be extinguished.

The medicinal waters came to put out the fire,
Mother Nature’s natural remedy
to sink into the skin, heal the spirit,
quench the drought, and
keep all life alive and eternal.

And I among the gardens and the fishes
and the dust that was made into fertile soil,
are truly grateful for our pleas
that were answered.
Thanks be to God.
