Afraid to Love
Life was not easy
Life was not fun
For a six year old girl
Who felt unloved
Life was not kind
Life was not fine
Life was hard
With the beating
and the scars
With the screaming
and the fights
With the wishing
She could die
Life was torture
It got worse
as she got older
She stayed strong
But she still bares the scars
Now this girl is much older
Old enough to want love
but afraid that it will go wrong
Life was not kind
Life was not right
No child should be mistreated
No child should be beaten
So love it is not possible
For a girl who is messed up
No guy will ever love
A girl who is damaged
A girl who isn’t worth it
Life was not kind as a child
Now that she is older
She is wiser
She is braver
But yet she is still afraid,
still afraid to love
