Katelyn Martin

7,094 days

As the smoke drifts
from the candles she blew
Another trip around the sun
Isn’t as fun without you
A wish was made
As she smiles to herself
watching the ice cream on her plate
puddle and melt
Her loved ones gather
With laughter in the air
A  piece of her is missing
Because you are not there
This day comes and goes
On the same day every year
But it’s your voice
She wishes
She would hear
She hates you’ll never see
Who she turned out to be
But as long as your memory resides in her
Forgotten you’ll never be
