Blossoming Defiance

I  saw it in the eyes
amidst a war
of endless struggle
I saw it in the eyes
as death stood to see
a garden of lilies bloom
and a minute he took
to watch the lovely blossom
to pluck one he dared
and death met his demize
imminent and fair
                                        —k

This poem carries a somber and introspective tone, it explores themes of mortality, beauty, and the fleeting nature of life. The imagery of a garden of lilies blooming amidst a war and death's presence creates a contrast that adds depth to the poem.
