Shackled Roof

In silence and stillness
I lay listening to the tinkering of rain.
Its uneven beat plying at the shackled roof.
Tink tack, tink tack.
Calm and mean,
drowning thoughts
and washing away dreams.
It leaves a glare on the sidewalk.

Tonight I’m going to dance in puddles
and absorb the street light.
