Equality

My First Spoken Word

Why do we think
Its okay to belittle and shrink
Those who are on the brink?
Why is it still okay
To call somebody gay
In a derogatory way?
Why is it needed
To be so conceited
And instead, leave others defeated?
Why do we still
Call out the mentally ill?
All the refills of pills
Why should people be afraid for their kin
Because the color of their skin
Is one that keeps being linked to sin?
Why is doing something like a girl
Something that makes lips curl?
Try changing your ways, give it a whirl
Why do we approve
Of making people into things? You’ve
Got to stop this, its time to improve

It’s two thousand fifteen
It’s time to be seen
That your ways are medieval,
It’s time for retrieval
From all the hatred you harbor
You must need a barber
Because you need to cut it out
Stop projecting on others your own self doubt
Get it out of you hair
Learn the basics and share

This world we live in,
We’re in it together
From the end to where we begin,
We’re in this forever.
